Describe the following-
Explain the following :
- Magnetic Tape.
- Hard Disk.
- VCD (VCD).
- Zip Drive.
- (CD).
Ans- (1) Magnetic Tape —— It is a device for storing information in a permanent form and keeping it safe. It is less popular than Disk but it is used in many types of computers. Information is stored on magnetic tape by SAM (Serial Access Method). The tape may be wound on a reel or cartridge.
Cartridge Tape - It is used to back up data from the hard disk in a microcomputer. Cartridge tapes have a large storage capacity. 10, 20, 40 or 60 MB of data can be stored in a minute in a tape of 14 inches and 1,000 feet length.
Reel Tape — It is ½ inch wide. magnetized on its surface

Coating happens. Its reel diameter is usually 10½ inches. It can store data in a tape reel of 2,400 feet length at a density of up to 6.250 watts per inch. KA (ii) Magnetic Disk — Magnetic disk is also another form of Sequential Access Storage. It is very similar to a gramophone record. There are two types of magnetic disk- (a) Diskette or Floppy Disk. (b) Hard Disk.
LASTER Sound
Floppy disk or diskette is made of plastic. It is covered with a layer of ferride. it floppy picture floppy disk
So called because it is made of flexible plastic. It is very delicate, so there is a plastic cover over it which is called Jacket. There is a hole in the center of the floppy through which the spindle of the floppy disk drive unit rotates the floppy disk. A standard floppy disk has 80 data tracks, each of which can hold 64 words. Floppy disk works similar to magnetic tape. The speed of rotation of this disc is 360 rpm revolution per minute. Floppies are usually of two types in terms of size: 56 diameter and 3½ diameter.
computer hindi notes,
(2) Hard Disk It remains fixed at a certain place in the computer, hence it is also called Fixed Disk. A hard disk is a set of metal disk platters, each with a pearl or coating of magnetic material on the surface of the disk. (Coating), all disc platters are in one spindle. Data can be stored on both surfaces of each disc, in addition to the top surface of the top disc and the bottom surface of the bottom disc. There is a read/write head for each surface. These have more storage capacity.
A group of read write heads are mounted on a single arm. Each Head
moving back and forth to reach a suitable track on the surface of the rotating disc

The disc spins at a high speed (about 3,600 revolutions per minute) to 7,200 revolutions per minute. One Road Right Head at a time to speed up to the appropriate track, C.P. You. (CPU) is accelerated. The readwrite head is located directly on the same track in which the data is present without reading and writing other tracks. Hard disk is an example of Direct Access Storage Device.
(3) VCD (Video Compact Disk) — Its full name is Video Compact Disk. It is used for special CD format and for storing video. 74 Minutes Full Motion Video Using MPEG Compression
A CD of the picture can be made. Video CD Player or CD ROM is required to play VCD.
(4) Zip Drive It is a high capacity floppy disk drive developed by Lomega Corporation. Zip Drives are slightly larger in size and about twice the thickness of older floppy disks, have a capacity of 100 MB of data storage, and are relatively more expensive and durable. It is a popular media. It is used to backup and send large files from the hard disk.
(5) CD (Compact Disk / CD ROM) - This is Optical ROM. In this only the pre-accumulated data(Read) can be done. The technology of this optical disk was developed in the year 1990. Laser beam assist in this discData is read and written from it. That's why it is called Optical Disk.
This disc is made of resin material such as polycarbonate. There is a coating of aluminum material on its surface due to which it has the property of reflection. A high intensity laser beam is incident on this reflective surface to form a tiny pit, which is a 1 bit indicator. The surface where there is no pit has a 0-bit pointer, it is called Land. To read or read the data from the disc, a laser beam of low intensity is inserted on its surface. The reflected laser rays are detected by a photo diode. The presence of 'pit' is detected when the difference in intensity of the reflected laser beam is reflected, because the pit scatters the beam in many directions and less intensity of the beam reaches the photodiode. CD ROM has a long spiral track on which the data is organized sequentially. These tracks are divided into sectors of equal size. CD ROM is also inserted in the computer like a floppy disk drive, which is called CD Drive. More data can be stored in CD ROM than in floppy. CD ROM can store 630 MB or more of data.
CD-R - CD ROM drive was created in 1990, which was used to write data on special CD ROM discs. There was a Temperature Sensing Layer near that CD ROM, which could be changed by writing. You could only write data to any one part of that disk only once. CD-R is also called WORM disc (Wnte Once Read Memory).
CD-RW— Its full name is CD-Rewritable (CD-RW). In this, data can be written more than once on the same disk.
What is DVD ROM? What is the difference between DVD ROM and CD ROM? What is DVD ROM? What are the differences between CD ROM and DVD ROM?
computerhindinotes,
DVD ROM — Nowadays computers are coming with DVD ROM (Digital Video Disk Read Only Memory) instead of CD ROM. A complete movie can be recorded in one DVD ROM, for which two to three CDs are required.
DVD ROMs use Special Data Compression Technology, as a result of which their data storage capacity is doubled. These types of discs are similar in appearance to CDs, but they cannot be played on CD drives, they require DVD drives. DVD is also called (Digital Versatile Disk). More amount of data can be stored or stored by DVD than CD ROM.
Difference between DVD ROM and CD ROM Following are the differences between DVD ROM and CD ROM - (I) DVD ROM has more storage capacity. A DVD can hold the equivalent of two or three CDs in storage, while CD ROMs have less storage capacity.

Explain the following in brief:
- Optical Disk
- Flash Driver
- Blue Ray Disk
- Mother Board.
(i) Optical Disk - In the year 1990, the technology of optical disk was developed. In this disk, data is read and written with the help of laser beam. That's why it is called optical disc or optical disc. This disc is made of resin material such as polycarbonate. There is a coating of aluminum material on its surface due to which it has the property of reflection. A high intensity laser beam is incident on this reflective surface to form a tiny pit which is a 1-bit indicator. The surface where there is no pit is the indicator of O-Bit, it is called Land. To read or read the data from the disc, a low intensity laser beam is inserted on its surface. The reflected beam is detected by a photo diode. The presence of the pit is detected by the difference in intensity of the reflected beam, because the pit scatters the beam in many directions and less intensity of the beam reaches the photodiode.
(ii) Flash drives: This is a type of EEPROM memory, but its information is not written byte by byte, but a complete block is written at a time. In this it is faster than ordinary EE PROM memory. It requires low voltage to work. Flash ROM is used nowadays to store the BIOS of personal computers. This allows them to be updated through the Internet.
It is also possible to do. For this we have to go to the website of the manufacturer and download some information and follow their instructions.
Have to work. By doing this our computer will be equipped with the latest features. But before doing this
BIOS should be backed up so that old information can be restored in case of a glitch. By the way every new update
Flash memory is not a good idea to program. This should be done only when we really need a new feature.
(iii) Blue Ray Disc Blue Ray Disce is a disc based media. This media is used to store data. Information in Blue Ray Disc is stored in the form of Rays, because it is Blue Rays, hence it is called Bloc Ray Disc.
(iv) Mother Board The work is also similar to the name of this unit. It is a primary circuit inside the computer. Many other parts of which are directly or indirectly related to Mother Board. Inside the mother board are one or more CPUs, which support the integrated circuit and provide the initial setup of the computer immediately after power on, in addition to providing the interface between the main memory. Mother board is a very important unit in a computer.

Give the definition of primary memory and secondary memory and write the difference between the two. Give definition and difference between Primary Memory and Secondary Memory.
computer hindi notes dca,
Answer- Primary Memory - The storage device of the computer in which the inputted data is first stored is called primary memory. This primary memory is also called Main Memory. Main memory of computer is of two types-
- RAM (Random Access Memory),
- ROM (Read Only Memory)
Secondary Memory - The storage device of the computer in which the data is stored permanently is called Secondary Memory. Examples of this are floppy disk, CD, Zip drive and Hard disk. This is called Auxiliary Memory.

Difference between Primary Memory and Secondary Memory
(1) Primary memory is a chip of semi-conductor material, while secondary memory is a magnetic or optical disk and tape.
(2) Data is stored temporarily in primary memory RAM and permanently in ROM, whereas all types of secondaryData is permanently stored in memory.
(3) The data transfer speed of primary memory is fast and the speed of secondary memory is comparatively less. (4) The storage capacity of primary memory is less than that of secondary memory. The capacity of secondary memory is enormous; As
20GB, 40GB, 80GB etc. (5) Transferring the primary memory from the computer is also difficult and not correct, while the secondary memory is transferable, in this data can be transferred from one computer to another.

Floppy Disk– It is made of a square strip of plastic. It is coated with a layer of ferrite. It is very delicate. There is a hole in the center of the floppy through which the spindle of the floppy disk drive unit rotates the floppy disk. Till date floppy disk has 80 data tracks. Each of which can contain 64 words. Floppy disk works similar to magnetic tape. The speed of rotation of this disc is 360 RPM revolution per minute. That's why there is a problem of damage to the recording head. To avoid this, there is such a system in the computer that the recording head comes in contact with the disc only at the time of recording. In terms of size, floppy disks are usually of two types- 5 (diameter
Explain the following- Explain the following:
- SD Card
- SSD
SD Card: Secure Digital Card (SD Card) is basically Second Generation Multimedia Card (MMC). These are similar to physical SD card MMCs, only there is an additional locking switch on the SD card. This locking switch prevents data from being read/written from the storage card. An SD card device can read and write an MMC but SD cards have Digital Writer Management (DRM) capability that is not available in an MMC. SD cards are available in two different types-
(I) Mini SD Memory Card: Mini SD memory card was developed to meet the demands of the mobile phone market. A mini SD card provides all the same benefits as an SD card, but is smaller than the original SD card. It was first developed for use in mobile phones and miniature electronics such as MP3 players. (2) Micro SD Memory Card: Micro SD card is smaller than mini SD card. Micro SD cards were designed for use in cellular phones and smaller mobile devices. Micro SD card with the help of an adapter
Can be accessed through the card slot. The micro SD format is available in capacities up to 128GB and is almost identical to the SD are equal to 1/4 of the Which are from 15mm W to 0.7mm.
SSD: SSD is also called Solid State Drive, SSD is a storage device. It looks like a hard disk, but its storage capacity is much more than a hard disk. There is neither a motor nor a spinning disk like a hard disk. It uses the integrated circuit as a memory to store the data. SSD bin is made of semiconductor just like RAM but it is a permanent storage in which data can be stored permanently, just as pen drives and memory cards store data, in the same way SSD also stores data. Does it, in a way can say that pen drive is the smaller form of SSD.
